A few of my favorite things... 2013 Edition

Besides raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, I do, from time to time, discover new favorite things.
Here are a few from this past year.

Favorite winter accessory: Isotoner Smartouch Gloves
No more having to take off the gloves to use my phone! woot!

Favorite known-author-I-just-discovered (YA): Kiera Cass
I'm a little behind on the series *sadness*,
but the rest of the books will be at the top of my beach bag list for summer 2014!

Favorite Newly Discovered Indulgence:
Favorite escapist re-read in the Keeper Collection on my Kindle: Stealing Adda by Tamara Leigh.
I can't even count the number of times I clicked this book open this year on my Kindle or the Kindle App on my phone, just to hang out with Adda and Nick for a bit of a relief from reality and stress. (Or the number of times I chatted on FB with a friend of mine about how sigh-worthy a novel it is.)

Favorite known-author-I-just-discovered (inspy): Irene Hannon

Favorite mainstream fantasy (YA): Tandem by Anna Jarzab

Favorite brew-at-home coffee:
Caribou's DAYBREAK blend
(closely followed by the Caribou signature blend)
Favorite Inspy Series (contemporary): A Breed Apart by Ronie Kendig
Technically, book 3, BEOWULF: EXPLOSIVES DETECTION DOG doesn't release until January 1, 2014, but since I was one of the lucky ones who got to read it early, I'm calling it as a 2013 read, cuz it was my favorite of the three books in this high-action, high romance inspy series.) There is so much to love about these books. I just... can't... say enough. I loved them all... and it's not that fading puppy love type of love either (pun intended.) These are for the keeper shelf... er, keeper "collection" I should say, being the Kindle-loving girl that I am. ;)

Favorite contemporary romance (inspy): Five Days in Skye by Carla Laureano

Favorite new-to-me technology: my Samsung Galaxy Note 2

Although the numerous teens in my life laugh at me and say things like, "Is that your phone? It's... ginormous!" I love my Note 2! Yes, I look like a dork talking on it--especially with the lime green folio-style case I bought for it--but the big screen is awesome for reading books on my Kindle App, and the built in Stylus and S-Note app allow me to HAND WRITE notes right on the screen. LOVE!

Favorite contemporary romance (mainstream): Cinderella Screwed Me Over by Cindi Madsen

Favorite New TV Show:
Marvel's Agents of Shield
Tuesdays, 8/7central, ABC
TV Show I would totally watch . . . if it was real
(and also my fave inspy romantic comedy of the year): The Wedding Game by Amy Matayo
Favorite song (worship):

Favorite song (secular)

Favorite Debut Novel (inspy contemporary): Dear Mr. Knightley by Katherine Reay

Favorite Edgy Inspy Debut Novel (inspy historical): Born of Persuasion by Jessica Dotta

Favorite beauty product (although I wish they were in a more attractive container):
Aveeno Ultra Calming Makeup Removing Wipes
My 7th grader started wearing mascara this year and was having a hard time getting it to come off at night because she was afraid of getting liquid/foaming cleanser in her eyes. I bought these and... guess who's addicted? Me. That's right. My skin has improved a LOT since I began using these little wonders. (I was a die-hard fan of Aveeno products before, but now? You betcha!) and even my hormonal breakouts have become almost unnoticable. YAY!

Favorite milestone: becoming a published author... whose book(s) even made a couple of bloggers' Tops of 2013 lists! *happy dance*

...and having THE RYN go to paperback!

What were a few of
your favorite things in 2013?

I *LOVE* this list--the uniqueness of it. Do you mind if I copy--giving you full credit, of course--and using my own "discoveries"?

  8. Love this list. I just got some touch gloves for Christmas. Hooray!

Under your recommendation I recently bought Wedding Game and I just (like 60 seconds ago) bought Dear Mr. Knightley.

    Happy New Year!
