CHARACTER/CHARACTER INTERVIEW
a new feature from Edgy Inspirational Romance
|
We sent out some feelers this fall asking some of our favorite authors if they might allow characters from their books to interview... other characters from their books! Lucky for us, several authors were excited about this proposition. We've already heard from characters from books by authors like Heather Burch and Ronie Kendig and we're excited to see more fun coming our way soon!
This week's featured author is Julie Presley, whose novel, Stones of Remembrance, released in August. Here is what her characters, Shara & Allaya, had to share with us:
Shara: What’s up?
I’m Shara Sheldon and I’m here with my sister Allaya who has finally promised
to indulge us in all the gory details of her romantic week at the lake with our
childhood friend, Finn Meyers. Make sure
you speak into the mic now, sis.
Allaya: This
isn’t a mic. It’s a Bic pen.
Shara: Don’t be a
spoilsport!
Allaya: Ugh. Okay
fine. What do you want to know?
Shara: First
things first: Finn’s version of the story includes a small little detail that
you conveniently left out when you first told me about the two of you.
Allaya: (groans)
You promise you’re not going to let Mom and Dad listen to this?
Shara: Promise.
Now spill. Why were you standing naked in the window?
Allaya: I didn’t
actually realize that I was naked. I
was too caught up in the storm happening outside.
Shara: There was
a storm? Oh, now it makes sense.
Allaya: Yep. I
was reliving every time Marielle and I had ever sat in front of that window
during a storm, every morning we woke up there to see the trees glistening with
rain drops, and the mudslide that happened on the side of the cabin.
Shara: I
remember. Those majestic lightning storms were her favorite thing about going
to the lake.
Allaya: So now
you know why I didn’t exactly notice that my towel had slipped off and that
Finn was watching me from the dock.
Shara: (giggles)
Were you mad when you found out?
Allaya: By the
time he told me, things were already so complicated between us it didn’t really
make a difference. It did explain something that I dreamed though . . .
Shara: You didn’t tell me about a dream!
Allaya: It’s
pretty personal, but it was basically just a picture of the healing that was
going on in my heart. Marielle was in it, for a split second, and then she was
gone. Then I saw some images of myself and of our family . . . of Finn.
Shara: He played
a big role in your whole healing process, huh?
Allaya: Well, he
wasn’t afraid to pose the questions that I couldn’t speak out loud. Why would
God let our sister die? Why didn’t He save her?
Shara: Did you
eventually ask those questions?
Allaya: Yeah. It
was the worst and most beautiful conversation I ever had with God. That day
everything I thought I knew about Him shifted. Oh, you need a tissue . . . here
. . .
Shara: Sorry. I’m
okay. Keep going.
Allaya: It all
happened in the room the three of us shared. One minute I was on the floor
bawling my eyes out and the next, I was waking up, in your bed with the sun
shining brightly through the window.
Shara: My bed?
Allaya: Yep. I
realized how much I missed you, and how important it was for us to reconnect.
Shara: (groans)
Can we talk about you and Finn again please? I have to go out tonight and I
don’t want to have to redo my makeup!
Allaya: Haha, of
course. Sorry, back to the yucky love stuff.
Shara: (sniffles)
Okay, so now that he’s all grown up, what is it like to kiss Finn Meyers? Oh,
you’re blushing. Big time!
Allaya: You mean
kiss him for real? Not like the two of you when you were kids?
Shara: You promised not to bring that up.
Allaya: Okay,
okay! Haha. I’ll drop it. Kissing Finn is like . . .
Shara: Uh huh?
What? Why are you looking at me like that?
Allaya: You are
way too interested in this! I think you need to go out on a date. I’m going to
sign you up on one of those online dating websites. You can’t live vicariously
through me forever.
Shara: What are
you doing? Get off my laptop! Hey! How do you know my password? Allaya!
Allaya: Do you
prefer long walks on the beach or cuddling beside a hot fireplace?
Shara: MOM!!
Allaya: Fireplace it is!
Shara: This
interview is over!
