Update on my son

When I planned this new blog feature, this is definitely not the kind of post I had in mind. But while my son is sleeping and I'm wide awake, I thought I'd update those of you who've been following my tweets.

My youngest (he turned 8 today) was admitted into the hospital early Monday morning for pneumonia which is exacerbated by his asthma. He's in ICU right now, but last night he made a turn for the better. Praise the Lord! We're praying for more progress.

Thank you to everyone on Facebook and Twitter who responded to my half-crazed status updates. It's comforting to know there are people on the other side of this laptop praying along with me.

  4. OH man, I'm so sorry- that 's a tough thing to have to go through. My daughter Lily has asthma and we spent a weekend at the hospital during a particularly bad attack. I wouldn't wish it on anyone. Hope he feels better and gets to come home soon!

  5. I am so sorry that you have to go through this trial, and you son too! I recently had my son in the hospital for four days with kidney problems and understand how hard it is to see your baby suffering. My son turns 8 on April 1st. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

  12. Thanks everyone! Turns out we were dealing with a collapsed lung. He's out of ICU now and on the regular floor. We expect he'll be in the hospital another two days. Thanks for all the prayers!

  14. Praying for your family Joy. I was at the hospital Tuesday night with my 20 month old. He has asthma as well and the doctors were worried his respiratory infection (of which he has had many this year) was actually pneumonia. Scary times, hope your son is feeling better very soon.

  15. @Shan- Yes, this asthma is nothing to play with that's for sure! I'm glad your little one didn't have pneumonia.

My little guy is off oxygen and now the thing that's keeping him here is an upset stomach. He had vomiting yesterday and again this morning. So as soon as he can take his meds without throwing up, we'll be able to go home. Looks like that will be Friday. Thanks for praying friends!
