It's Monday! What are you reading?

What'cha reading? Anything good?

I'm reading Diva Nash Vegas by Rachel Hauck. Love her! She's hysterical. I've done her novels out of order, so I'm going back to read older ones I missed the first time around.

Believe me, I will leave no Rachel Hauck book left unread. Which reminds me, I should head over to her website and see what else she has in the pipeline.

Up next will be the freebies I got off of Amazon yesterday, and a book called Tugger's Down by an online friend of mine, Tommie Lyn.

Can't get any cheaper than free.

Browsing Amazon yesterday, I ran across several inspy romances that are currently free for the Kindle. I don't know if they fall under the edgy category, but they're definitely inspirational.

And really, what could be better than free books? (All right, besides free chocolate?)

Get 'em now before the price goes up!

Review: Beguiled by Deeanne Gist and Mark Bertrand

Rylee Monroe walks dogs in the ritziest area of Charleston, South Carolina. She leads a solitary life which revolves around the animals she cares for and her senile grandmother in a nursing home.

Newspaper reporter Logan Woods is writing a book about local criminals that could make his career. When his investigation of the Robin Hood Burglaries in prominent Charleston estates leads him to Rylee Monroe, he finds he just may be barking up the wrong statue.

Beguiled is a romantic suspense that kept me flipping the pages right up to the very end. This collaboration between Gist and Mark Bertrand (her former crit partner) was a nice change of pace from her historical romances. It didn’t have the same edgy inspirational quality as her other stories, but it was a quick and enjoyable read which guarantees Gist will remain on my list of favorite authors.

My Rating:

And just for fun, here's an interview the authors taped for Bethany House:

Today I get to announce the winner of my first giveaway! I used which eliminates the temptation to only pick followers I know.

As of Friday night at 8pm, I had 24 followers. says the winner of Deeanne Gist's book A Bride Most Begrudging is follower number:

Congratulations to Karen Bridges! Contact me by Monday with your mailing address and I'll get the book right out to you.

Coming Attractions:
Next Wednesday I'll blog about log lines, tag lines, and one sentence pitches, and Saturday look for my review of Never Without Hope by Michelle Sutton.

Welcome to my blog launch party!

Are you as excited about edgy inspirational romance as I am? If not, stick around because you can’t stand too close to me without catching my enthusiasm!

Three years ago, I picked up an inspirational romance for an evening of light reading. When I finally put the book down in the wee hours of the morning, a dream that had smoldered on the back burners of my life was a full fledged flame.

I want to write a novel. I want to make someone feel like *that*.

The book, A Bride Most Begrudging by Deeanne Gist, was the first I’d ever read in the edgy inspirational sub-genre. Edgy inspirational is passionate. It’s real. It’s sometimes gritty- but always Christian.

And I. Am. Hooked.

Want to know what I’m talking about? Here’s your chance. To kick off my website I’m giving away my copy of the book that started it all. Subscribe to my blog by clicking the follow me link on the left. I’ll put all of your names in a hat this week and one of you will win A Bride Most Begrudging.

Then, be sure to check back to find book reviews of the latest edgy inspirational romances, author interviews, and updates on my own writing journey.

Here's a preview of what's coming up this week:

On Wednesday, I'll announce a fun giveaway for bloggers that you won't want to miss.

Next Saturday, I’ll announce the winner of A Bride Most Begrudging, and post my review of Deeanne Gist’s latest novel, Beguiled.

In the meantime, I'd love to hear from you! What's your favorite inspirational romance? List the title and author...

One Hysterical Book Trailer

This is not an inspirational series, but the author has lots of imagination. And I've seen these actors before, they played a gig at my house.
