Taking this stalking gig on the road.

You all know my reputation as author stalker, so when I read on Seekerville that Ruth Logan Herne had a book signing an hour and a half away, I packed up the binoculars and planned a road trip (rethought the binoculars on the way out the door- probably best not to creep her out in person).

One of the best parts of making the drive was the opportunity to meet my book blogging buddy Julia Reffner from Dark Glass Ponderings. Julia and I had dinner at Panera Bread before Ruthy's book signing and while we were eating, Debra Marvin from Inkwell Inspirations found us and came over to say hello (if I could think of a fresh way to write the cliche what a small world, I'd definitely use it here!).

I'm thrilled I met these lovely ladies in real life. I'm sure my husband thinks these are pretend people I chat with everyday, now I have pictures to prove they really exist.

Ruth's books Made to Order Family and Waiting Out the Storm are in stores now!

  3. Love it! And might I add that I'm also a tad jealous? ;) I wish I could have pictures with my blogging friends so that people would know you all are real! ;)

    Thanks for sharing!

  4. Amber and Casey, if I ever get to the pacific northwest, I'm definitely popping in on you two.

Renee I get to Steeler Country every once in a while, I will look you up next time I'm passing through. :)

  5. Okay, Joy, officially going on record here as the fourth commenter in whom you have incited jealousy, you little brat!! I would KILL to have some of my favorite bloggers waltz into one of my book signings, but despite my very immature reaction, I am thrilled for Ruthy and you guys and guess I will just have to wait for an ACFW conference up in your neck of the woods.

Why do none of my blogger friends live in St. Louis????

By the way, would you believe that I just NOW noticed your book rating system??? TOO, TOO CUTE, my friend and VERY creative!!

    Hugs,
    Julie

  6. LOL! Julie if you ever do a book signing in NY, I will bring an entourage!

I'm so thrilled I got to meet Ruthy. She was just as funny in person as she is at Seekerville.

  7. Joy, I had so much fun meeting you. We had no problem finding stuff to talk about, did we? It was great to go to the signing, see Debra again...and I agree Ruth is just as funny in person, maybe more :)

  8. *sigh* I'm just far enough from NY that this isn't possible lol! However, my sister was in NYC on Friday ; )

This is becoming a cliche in itself, Joy, but I'm jealous too! No one lives in NE in the blogosphere LOL! Me and you both Julie, no one lives here. DOn't worry you're not alone....

I'm so glad you guys had fun! And Panera....mmmmm mm! Great choice : )

  9. Julia- We'll have to do it again sometime, there's still so much left to chat about.

Hannah! How's school going? I had a delish potato soup at Panera's that you've got to try.

Juju- It was lots of fun. :)

  10. I can't believe it! One of my favorite authors lives less than 1/2 an hour from here and has quarterly book signings & I've never been and you'll drive 1-1/2 hours to see yours? I'm starting to think there's something wrong with me! Way to go Joy!! That is so cool! I'm so glad you got to meet up & have lunch. That's really awesome!

  11. Oh yeah! Good stuff! I had just sat down with my coffee and cinnamon cake and thought I recognized someone across the way. Should I stare, turn the other way or get a little closer. Strangely for this introvert, I got up and said, "Julia?" Got to meet Joy and catch up with Julia.

Joy, you're officially invited to the next unofficial get-together.

I expected to have fun hanging out with Ruthy but what a treat to meet two more 'like us' inspy writers! Ruthy is 100% just what you'd expect.

Thanks to Seekerville and their 'sightings' for instigating!
so nice to meet you Joy!

  12. When I saw this photo on the Seekerville blog, I thought, "So close . . ." Because I'm in upstate New York, also. But I think I'm 4 or 5 hours from where this all happened. But you guys look like you were having a great time!

  13. Gina- Stick with me chick, you'll be author stalking in no time. :)

Debra- It was great to meet you too! We'll have to do it again sometime, officially. :)

Renee Ann- What's four or five hours between friends?
